How To Choose The Appropriate Mold Material for Injection Machine?

When producing liquid silicone products,it needs to select the appropriate mold materials carefully,which has a crucial impact on the mold quality, production efficiency and service life of the final product. Here is a detailed introduction to the key points:

Steel products
P20 steel: This is a pre hardened plastic mold steel with good mechanical processing and polishing properties. After pre hardening treatment, its hardness is about 30-36 HRC, which can be directly used for mold manufacturing, reducing the risk of deformation during subsequent heat treatment. It is suitable for producing liquid silicone product molds with general requirements.
H13 steel: belongs to hot work mold steel, with excellent high-temperature strength, toughness, and thermal fatigue resistance. During the liquid silicone molding process, the mold undergoes certain temperature changes, and H13 steel can withstand such thermal cycles to ensure the stability and durability of the mold. Its hardness is usually between 48 and 52 HRC, and after appropriate heat treatment, it can be used to manufacture more complex and high demand liquid silicone molds.
Stainless steel
304 stainless steel: has good corrosion resistance and comprehensive mechanical properties, and has good toughness and strength at room temperature. For some liquid silicone product molds that require high corrosion resistance and have relatively mild working environments, 304 stainless steel is a feasible choice.
316 stainless steel: On the basis of 304 stainless steel, molybdenum element is added to make it have better corrosion resistance, especially suitable for contact with liquid silicone with corrosive components or molds working in humid and corrosive environments.
Aluminium alloy
Aluminum alloy has the characteristics of low density and light weight, which makes the operation and transportation of molds more convenient. Its good thermal conductivity helps to quickly transfer heat and has advantages in mold applications that require rapid cooling. However, aluminum alloys have relatively low strength and are usually suitable for molds with low strength requirements, special requirements for weight and heat dissipation, or molds used for trial production and small batch production.
